Job Description
Sets up and operates various types of computerized and state-of-the-art nondestructive test equipment by performing the typical duties set forth in the description for Inspector - Nondestructive Test - Specialist. Determines the most effective inspection methods to be used for specific applications. Provides “hands-on” training to lower rated NDT Inspectors for certification in all NDI disciplines. Participates in specification review. Evaluates new equipment and emerging technologies for practical application to current programs. Interfaces with other organizations to explain test methods and results. Interprets test results and develops procedures and techniques in all NDI disciplines as set forth in the description for Inspector - Nondestructive Test - Specialist.
Must be certified at least to NAS 410 (current revision) Level II in 5 or more of the following NDT disciplines: Fluorescent Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, Shearography and Radiographic.
Must operate a computerized workstation and computer operated equipment.
Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of or have completed training in interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.

Essential Job Functions
Physical Demands
Inspector – Non Destructive Test Specialist Sr (RP6149)
Standing: Requires full time standing with limited resting periods and to walk distances. Sit for extended periods if required.
Heights: Able to work at heights. Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails.
Overhead work: Able to work overhead as required.
Weight restriction: Able to Lift/push/pull/carry a minimum of 30 lbs.
Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop. Able to work in awkward positions as required. Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required.
Work content: Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands. Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use vibrating tools and perform torqueing operations. Able to use power equipment. Repetitive tasks will be performed. Able to use computer keyboard, mouse and monitor for extended periods of time.
Vision/Hearing: High level Hand/Eye coordination required. Corrective lenses may be used. Eye protection required in many instances. Color differentiation may be required. Must be able to hear at level required for positions.
Environmental: Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust. Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required. Able to work outside if needed.
Attendance: Regular attendance required based on set work schedule. Able to work any shift.
Vehicles/Power moving equipment: Able to operate as required. Able to work around heavy equipment or machinery.

Basic Qualifications
Must be certified in at least five NAS-410 (current revision) Level II, or equivalent, in one or more of the following nondestructive test disciplines as required by customer, State and Federal Government Regulations: Radiographic, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, or Shearography.

Experience operating a computerized workstation and computer-operated equipment.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Desired skills
Develops written techniques and procedures for approval by a NDT Level III in the disciplines in which they are certified to NAS 410 Level II.
