Responsibilities:                                                                          

The Quality Services – Instructional Designer will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Child 360 Learning Management System (LMS). This role will also conceptualize, develop, deliver, coordinate, and drive engagement of innovative e-learning content for Child360’s workforce and external users.

Essential Functions:

Service Goal:

Consistently promotes and models courteous Child360/community service in a prompt and efficient manner. Maintains positive relationships with all Child360 internal and external contacts through professional honest interaction. Responds to requests quickly and professionally recognizing that a request serves an organization and/or community need.

Supports Child360 vision of Educational Justice: Every child will succeed in school and life.

Child360 Mission:

Supports Child360 mission of advance early education program quality and capacity by supporting the development of the whole child, growing a qualified and diverse workforce, and strengthening family engagement. Create and sustain strategic partnerships and advocate for policies that promote access and program excellence.

Daily Tasks

Curriculum Development and Measurement

Integrates web-based and hybrid (web-based + in-person) trainings into the existing Child360 training catalog.

Works with the Quality Services Lead Trainer and other applicable stakeholders to define objectives for courses and/or curriculum.

Outlines the concept for a course or curriculum, defining the course medium, content delivery, assessments, accompanying materials, and complimentary learning approaches.

Produces course content based on input from subject matter experts, written material, previous training material, available data, etc.

Works with Communications and Information and Technology departments to secure the necessary audio-visual resources to produce draft and final versions of each course.

Ensures learning solutions are scalable and replicable, including  curriculum, session materials, facilitator guides, job aids, web content and evaluation strategies.

Works with the Research and Evaluation department to develop the metrics to assess, monitor, and track the effectiveness of learning programs; analyze feedback and provide info to instructors to continuously improve learning offerings programs and facilitation.

Partner with the Quality Services Lead Trainer to develop learning content to cultivate trainer competencies and prepare them for delivering content.

Provide instructional design and technical expertise support to applicable stakeholders.

Facilitate and lead in-person and virtual high-impact learning sessions.

Create engaging virtual surveys for pre, during, and post trainings.

Learning Management System

Manages all aspects of our LMS administration, such as course/path uploading and updating, testing and reporting.

Drives adoption of our LMS, including creating and maintaining learning guides.

Keeps system current with version updates, rolling out new functionality as needed.

Market Research and Engagement

Stays abreast of current and emerging ECE trends.

Researches and remains current with emerging educational technologies and approaches in order to design relevant content.

Works with R&E, Communications, and Business Development to conduct focus groups with internal and external stakeholders to ascertain market demand for particular ECE content, professional development platforms and delivery methods.

Works with R&E, Communications, and Business Development to create effective web-based training packages that align with Child360’s mission and branding requirements.

Ensure data accuracy and integrity, perform multiple high level administrative and program data functions

Physical Duties

  • No special demands are required. May be expected to lift boxes up to 20 lbs.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements: 

Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles
  • Competency in e-learning authoring tools and technologies
  • Experience taking, creating, or administering online synchronous and asynchronous training
  • Competency in Excel, Word, Windows, Power Point, and Outlook

Requirements / Skills: 

  • Successful candidates will be strong communicators, highly organized, creative and collaborative, and show a strong aptitude toward project management and contributing to multiple programs simultaneously to deliver results.
  • Strong proficiency with personal computer use, primarily with word processing applications
  • Strong work ethic with ability to coordinate assigned tasks with other staff members
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, influence, EQ and interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about e-learning and adult education.
  • Thrive on creating impactful learning experiences.
  • Experience designing, delivering and evaluating curriculum for audiences in various formats, including instructor-led, web-based, and blended learning solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently, while working independently and within teams.
  • Strong technical aptitude, especially in leveraging technology to support global learning requirements.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and exercise judgment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, flexibility and presence while supporting Child360

Required Travel: Up to 25%, as needed.  Overnight/multiday travel may be required.

Preferred Experience:  

3-5 years experience in a related field

Formal Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of experience working a trainer and/or an instructional designer, Master’s degree preferred.

Language proficiency:

  • Excellent English verbal and written skills; demonstrated effective verbal and written l communication skills; ability to explain simple as well as complex ideas in a concise, easy-to-understand manner
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
