Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Electrical Component Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
This is a senior level electrical component engineer position reporting to the Space Electronics Parts section. Essential Functions include:
Create specifications to procure space level parts as require
Specification performance requirements created using inputs from using engineers, recommendations from manufacturers and based on component engineering experience
Review changes to existing specifications such as design changes, materials and processes changes.
Screening requirements created using Program documentation flow down requirements as specified in Statement of Work, Program Parts Materials and Processes Plans (PM&P), department standards and military standards.
Direct and assist component selection utilizing program and department section lists, minimize redundant part creation, drive standardization, introduce, review, and qualify new technologies.
Support Global Supply Chain (GSC) as required for various vendor issues.
Supports Alert board in creating Alerts and Information Bulletins (IB) dispositioning GIDEPS and other industry problem notifications.
For various projects, review and disposition failures and other discrepancies such as Destructive Physical Analysis) DPA issues, Qualifications, Failure Analysis at all levels from procurement to on orbit issues.
Attends various program functions such as Proposals, Preliminary design review (PDR), Critical Design reviews (CDR).
Assumes a major team leadership role including supporting junior engineers with problem solving direction as well as mentoring.
Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution
9 years of electrical component, design, or test engineering experience in an aerospace environment OR Master's Degree in STEM with 7 years of work related experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution
Active DoD Secret Clearance
