Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a well-qualified Staff Systems Engineer to join the Redondo Beach site!
Candidate is expected to have an understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design.  Ability to perform various reliability related tasks including: providing reliability support to the design team through the performance of design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, de-rating analysis, allocation of reliability requirements, performing failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and identify fault modes and responses, identify critical items and document controls, and support to design reviews. 
Candidate has a familiarity with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret schematics. Candidate must show an understanding of how a unit functions independently as well as interact with other units.
Candidate must be able to develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.  Applicant must be able to adapt probability and statistical tools to solve problems involving non-standard configurations and definitions of system success; knowledge of industry tools used to conduct Reliability analysis.
Individual must have the ability to prepare and present briefings to senior leadership and external customers, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have experience with modeling and simulations, and software analysis tools used in Reliability analysis.  Must be proficient with Microsoft tools.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design
  • Ability to perform various reliability engineering related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for identifying fault modes and responses
  • Familiar with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret drawings and schematics
  • PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • 14 years' experience in reliability, probability/statistics or electrical engineering
  • Must have and able tomaintain an active U.S. Government SCI access with an in-scope SSBI within last5 years to be submitted for PAR
  • Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Tool suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field (Electrical, Reliability, or Mathematical  Discipline) 
  • Combining hands-on Reliability Analysis and modeling skills for aircraft, satellite, directed energy hardware and systems
