Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer focused in Printed Wired Assembly (PWA) to join our Supplier Quality Field Engineering team located in Woodland Hills, CA. This team supports programs with suppliers across the United States and Internationally.

 

This position works a 9/80 schedule and will travel an estimated 75%.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in a team environment, negotiate and integrate different viewpoints, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results.
  • Represent the company with credibility, confidence and professionalism.
  • Perform Specification Compliance Reviews, First Article Inspections and Source inspections on electro-mechanical hardware.
  • Understands continuous process improvement (CI) and can effectively develop and execute CI initiatives and activities.
  • Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify suppliers' process issues and developing solutions
  • Perform process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable, as well as compliant to Military and Space requirements.
  • Effectively perform supplier surveillance activities designed to manage and improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation.
  • Apply technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts to analyze and audit our suppliers' processes and capabilities.
  • Capable of leading cross-functional teams in pursuit of performance improvements aligned to department and organizational goals
  • Mitigate supplier quality risk to prevent/minimize business impact from supplied material defects
  • Proactive reduction and prevention of supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims
  • Lead on-site supplier engagements, including performance reviews and Quality System audits
  • Be able to analyze and present data to all levels of leadership
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Understands general contracting principles in a Department of Defense and commercial environment
  • Establish positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
  • Develop and mentor new engineers.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or level 4.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for a Supplier Quality Engineer 3 are:  
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience in electronics industry.
  • 5 years of related experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Design engineering and/or 5 years of experience in Continuous Improvement.
  • Demonstrated work experience inspecting Printed Wiring Boards.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements
  • Must be able to travel up to 75% of the Time
  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Demonstrate skill to lead teams and projects

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM related field
  • 9 years of relevant experience in electronics industry.
  • 9 years of related experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Design engineering and/or 9 years of experience in Continuous Improvement.
  • Demonstrated work experience inspecting Printed Wiring Boards.

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or other Engineering discipline.
  • 10 years working in the defense industry. Process knowledge/manufacturing engineering experience in the manufacture of Printed Wiring Boards.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certifications.
  • Experience in auditing to ISO 9001 and AS9100, AS9102 requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in J-std-001 and IPC-A-610E, and Mil-Std-883.
  • Training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5M)
  • ASQ Lead Auditor, CQE, CQM Certification
  • Possess current DOD Secret Clearance.
